The patient was a 40 year
old multiparous lady who enjoyed good past health with no history of sexually
transmitted disease or genital ulcers. She complained of recurrent painful
labial ulcers that lasted for 5 months. She was given multiple courses of broad
spectrum antibiotics, which healed her ulcer occasionally but with frequent
recurrence.
